Summary: This pamphlet is designed to assist new arrivals to secure independence and control in matters of food purchasing and preparation in the first weeks and months after their arrival. It provides basic information on practical food related transitions (eg. shopping, school lunches) and measures for dealing with common health problems in the early settlement period. The pamphlet supports maintenance of the traditional diet and foreshadows some changes that new arrivals may need to be aware of.
