Warning to pregnant and breastfeeding women: seaweed soup
Information pamphlet warning women of the extremely high levels of iodine in seaweed soup, this soup is often given to pregnant and breastfeeding women from Korea, Japan and some parts of China in the belief that it increases breastmilk supply. This soup can have iodine level hundreds of times higher than the recommended daily intake. High levels of iodine intake can cause hypothyroidism in newborn babies.
