Dementia: anxious behaviours
Anxiety in people with dementia can cause restlessness, pacing, fidgeting, or clinging to others. Common triggers include difficulty understanding surroundings, worries about past events or abilities, and stress in their environment.
Support Strategies:
- Provide reassurance and comfort.
- Gently discuss triggers and offer distractions.
- Consult a doctor to rule out medical causes.
- Encourage exercise and reduce caffeine.
