Ebola disease
Ebola disease is a severe illness caused by infection with an Ebola virus. It can cause fever and bleeding and is often life-threatening. Ebola mainly occurs in parts of East, Central, and West Africa. The Ebola viruses that cause disease are not found in Australia.
It can spread through close contact with an infected person. If you have recently travelled to a country where Ebola outbreaks are occurring and develop symptoms, seek urgent medical care right away.
