Poisonous wild mushrooms

This resource explains the dangers of wild mushrooms in Australia, especially after autumn rain. It highlights where poisonous mushrooms grow, the risks to children and pets, symptoms of poisoning, and what to do in an emergency. It advises only eating mushrooms bought from supermarkets or greengrocers.

If someone accidentally eats a wild mushroom, don’t wait for symptoms to start call the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 and follow their advice. Anyone who becomes ill after eating a wild mushroom should seek urgent medical attention. In an emergency, always call triple zero (000).
