Understanding the education system (chart)
This flow chart gives a clear summary of Tasmania’s education system:
Children attend primary school from ages 5–12, then high school (Years 7–10), followed by senior secondary (Years 11–12) to earn the Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE), optionally with an ATAR for university entry. Post-school options include TAFE/VET certificates, diplomas, and university degrees ranging up to doctorates.
