When child protection workers visit - Information for parents

This fact sheet explains why a child protection worker visits (a report suggests your child may need protection), what happens in the first visit (they discuss the concerns with you and your child and record what is said), that you can choose not to talk but the report is still investigated, what may happen next (further visits, support services, or a Children’s Court application if needed), and your rights to seek legal advice, complain, and request written reasons/review (VCAT) if you disagree with a decision.
